"Now more than ever the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature...[I]f the next centennial does not find us a great nation...it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces." ~ James A. Garfield, The Works of James Abram Garfield, James R. Osgood and Company, 1883.

Quote for 2012...
"Little progress can be made by merely attempting to repress what is evil. Our great hope lies in developing what is good." - President Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933)
Ohio Christian Alliance is a non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting Judeo-Christian values in American government. Ohio Christian Alliance does not endorse any particular candidate or political party. OCA provides educational materials, including voter guides and scorecards.s.s.
It is obvious with the outcome of last Tuesday's election, that big government - growing, and becoming more and more intrusive - must be dealt with at state levels. The 10th Amendment and Nullification must be strengthened and used for what they were intended - the foundations of state sovereignty.
Let us not lose focus of education, however. The Constitution remains the longest-lasting governing document in the history of the world. Let us never take it for granted. Learn it!
In 2014, there are 20 Democrat Senate seats up for re-election. May our energies and prayers help overturn them.
I am the eternal optimist....
Yes, this was written 2 years ago. However, it remains to be stated every, single, year!!!
There Will Always Be A November October 9, 2010
There will always be a November. Politicians must now be aware We, the People, will never be caught again. There are more self-evident absolutes than the truths we hold dear. The political machine can never be allowed to move beyond the boundaries *we* set. Our silence condoned their arrogant, irresponsible care of our nation, and we must hold ourselves accountable as well. We were the gatekeepers for our children and grandchildren's futures, but we didn't keep watch. We assumed love of country was part of our moral fabric. However, we failed to monitor the immoral fabric moving like wave across this nation, nor did we pay attention when the Constitution was being ground into the dust under the heels of pompous, highhanded, so-called public servants.
Our Founders knew human nature was constantly at risk from greed, selfishness, and presumptuous character. Yes, character. Noah Webster and John Witherspoon warned us. Webster said, "In selecting men for office. let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate - look to his character...When a citizen gives his suffrage to a man of known immorality he abuses his trust; he sacrifices not only his own interest, but that of his neighbor, he betrays the interest of his country (emphasis mine)."
John Witherspoon cautioned the same. "Those who wish well to the State ought to choose to places of trust men of inward principle, justified by exemplary conversation...[And t]he people in general ought to have regard to the moral character of those whom they invest with authority either in the legislative, executive, or judicial branches."
We can never let Washington forget November will always come. November will always be the time of accountability. It will always be the season to judge character. Character counts.
For a good look at the arrogance of Congress, read Psalm 64.
